In a Nutshell

The weekly summation of all that is us...

Monday

A nice relaxing morning at home. Mia slept until about 10am then was raring to go as always.

I took her to the doctor's in the afternoon as she'd been rubbing her ears a lot and since she's previously had an ear infection we thought it better to be on the safe side. Good news: no infection! :) Result. Well done Miso, I know the doctor looking in your ears isn't fun.

Tuesday
"Honestly, I didn't poke her!"
Sarah Christie

The birth of 'Tats Out Tuesday' where myself and Sarah take turns looking after each other's kidlet for a couple of hours so we can each get a break once a week. Hopefully Vikki will be joining in the baby swap sessions too. And as Vikki and I are breastfeeding, 'Tats Out Tuesday' does not only refer to the fact that whoever is hosting does baked potatoes!

I had a really lovely time today as I got to spend more time with Sarah and loved getting to know her better. Although I'm painfully aware that I talked non-stop... sorry! I just felt so comfortable chatting to you :) You must regale me with your bountiful life stories next time.

I should also take this moment to promise you Sarah that Mia loves you :) xx

Another night of staying up weirdly late; when Johny and Mia go to bed I'm just not tired. I was mulling this over with Sarah today and decided it's probably because it's the only time I get, literally, to myself. Even when I have a bath in the evening and Johny's got Mia, I feel the uncontrollable need to rush in case they need me, so even that isn't relaxing. Must try harder!

Wednesday

"All the children can play and learn together and us mums can help each other."
"Where's Barney?"
Vikki Franks

Just to clarify for anyone who is worried. Barney was under the blanket. There is photographic proof. Also, these two cute quotes from Vikki did not come in succession :)

Johny went to Bristol for work today, which meant getting up at 5:30am. Ouch! He's working so hard still at the moment, it just doesn't let up it seems. He was able to relax a bit over Christmas, but it's all go go go in the festive season so lie ins and down days are few and far between. I hope he'll be able to get some time out soon for some R and R. Love you Johny xx

Vikki and Sarah popped round for a quick cuppa on their way home from town which was cool. A short visit but as always very sweet. During this visit I was witness to some very cute shananigans from Barney as he was demonstrating his penchant for hats. Ada boy!! I am all for the hats and have soooo many. So is Johny, so we have loads and were able to share the headwear!

As for me, another late night unable to sleep. Maybe it's my new rhythm. I'm happy with it as I get so much done when my little double act have gone to beddie byes. Tonight's main job was to complete another section of my camera bag project... but that's another story.

Thursday
Maddalena came over this morning for a chat and a coffee and brought her two little ones, Sophia and Sebastian. We chatted for a good couple of hours whilst the kiddies played. All the toys came out and were fully utilised which is awesome. Sebastian I hope you feel better soon; I'm sure you will.

Friday

Today we had planned to go and have dinner with Maddalena and her little family. Unfortunately she lives up an uber steep hill and the snow and ice made it way too dangerous to do with a baby. No matter what form of transport we could have utilised. We were even informed by Lena that the hill was closed due to the weather. Never fear though, we have rearranged for next weekend!

Instead, after lots of snowtime fun which I've previously blogged about - we decided to have a DISCO! Yep, a lounge based, dancing around like loons, just the three of us disco. Boom.

Saturday
"I'm glad we're talking about chocolate."
Me

The highlight of today was going to Sarah and Paul's for an 'adult dinner'. Okay so technically we're all adults, but pretty quickly the evening turned into mountains of giggles. Yes, we were behaving like children; in a very adult and cool way I'll have you know.

Prior to this evening of frivolity, I took it upon myself to have a go with the cakepop maker I was given over Christmas. Johny and I put it to good use and made some amazeballs to take to Sarah's. I was surprised by how protective Johny was over the ones he had decorated!

So we ate, drank and were merry. Very merry. Well, I speak for Sarah and myself, the boys were playing it cool! Vikki very kindly took Mia for us so we could have official adult time. But unfortunately Miso soup had other ideas and came to crash our party. Sorry she cried on you Vikki! Thank you so much for the precious time you gave us to let our hair down. Although the super silver lining was that it meant you came and had a drink with us; albeit brief.

My favourite image of the evening

Before the effects of the white wine and champers wore off, Sarah and I decided that it was probably a really appropriate time to paint our nails using the marbling technique. Check Sarah's blog for how that went... surprisingly well actually! I only know this because I looked at Sarah's blog myself; my nails were rubbish, hers were super! Haha.

The journey home was a bit hairy as there was black ice everywhere. That didn't stop us marching home though, feeling fully and happy; satiated with the kind of fulfilment only an evening with true friends can bring. Thank you Sarah and Paul - what an evening! :)

Sunday

"Load likes to go down the stiffest path."
John Rhys-Davies

Bill & Kate - excellent adventures!
So today we had our friends Bill and Kate over for a roast dinner and lots of chat about Johny's future ventures. He's so motivated and excited by the project he's working on right now that it's really inspiring to see, and inspires me in turn!

Which reminds me. I have given some of my painted glasses and crockery to Vikki and Sarah as part of the 'pay it forward' initiative thingy on facebook. They both then put images on facebook of them being used and the short story is people now want to buy them and have even put in orders! It literally bowled me over! I was always planning on making more and selling them, but now I have the motivation and self belief that I didn't have before to really give them a go. Thanks ladies, it's all down to you! So I'm working on an Esty shop, but first I need stock. Well, at least images of glasses I've designed and painted which can then be made to order. But I'm on it... so watch this space!

Kate and I decided at one point to leave the boys (and the baby) to their in depth engineery jargony chats and go do something else... which I cannot mention just yet. But I will. Smug.

 LATERS!

(PS Cheeky picture of Mia especially for her Grampa Petey)
