Amazeballs |
So now I am able to mention the dairy free cake balls (amaze balls) that I made for Vikki on Sunday evening!!! Yep. Super smug. Especially having tried to buy dairy free margarine at the Co-op only to find all their marg is dairy full. Pah. So I nearly, nearly gave up. But then decided to laugh in the face of cow induced adversity and talk to my friend Mr Google. Turns out he had some super cool ideas to combat buttery no go areas of baking. The one which I went with was substituting butter for apple puree and vegetable oil. Done.
The whole cake making experience was too much fun! Kate and I experimented a few times with different cake mixes to see which would produce the best 'pop' in the cake pop maker. Which of course meant eating loads of tester cakes. Nae bother!
Managed, somehow, to transport said balls to Vikki's for Mamans Delicieux afternoon of frantic funtimes and frivolity and they went down a storm. Erm, with Vikki and I; as unfortunately Jen's not a fan of lemon. I shall remember that for next time though!
Briefly now I must go back to this morning, the early hours of this morning. Mia had a bit of a bad time of it through the night, teething pain. So due to the long night I decided babysitting my friend's 1 year old needed to be cancelled. Therefore I was not expecting what turned up on the doorstep... thank you Lena! It was a wonderful surprise and really made my day easier.
Tuesday 22nd Jan
An extremely successful yet absolutely exhausting baby relay day! Sarah and I found that having the last shift, where we looked after Vikki's lil' Mouse was definitely the best as all the babies were asleep and we had tea and cake. Ahhhhh lovely xx
Wednesday 23rd Jan
Met Lena for a coffee over at Costa. We chatted all things cake, and Mia tried to eat some cookies. Good attempt Miso!

If you use your imagination a bit... |
Boob club this morning. It was as roasting as it always is in that teeny room and I was glad when Vikki decided to leave as I felt I could leave then too. And so I did. I'm considering whether or not to go every week. This was my first visit this year due to other commitments. But now I'm finding that I feel physically uncomfortable there. It's nothing to do with the people, I just find it quite claustrophobic and like I said, roasting hot! Plus when I went this week Mia wasn't happy at all when I tried to put her layers on to go out in the cold. She's always been sensitive to heat/cold (as I guess all bublets are) and putting extra clothes on whilst in the heat of the boob group room meant SCREAMING babe. :(

Get me outta here. NOW. |
Ooo and discovered Mia's first tooth poking through a bit today. Yowzas!
And her walker arrived - she hates it most of the time! Hehe.
Friday 25th Jan
Mad dash to the shops today to buy crockery and glassware for fulfilling my painting orders for my new little business Aelfen Made. Another story of course...

Daddy Slaps Bass!! |
Tonight we were planning on going to Andrew and Lia's wedding reception up in Alton. We even got a bigger car seat for Mia (thank you Christie Clan!) as she screams in her other one, so that we could all go. However, after 20 mins solid screaming in the car, Johny dropped Miso and I off at my Mum's in Winchester. It was a shame we missed it, but had a great time with Mum.

Yes. I put my paintbrush in my smoothie. I meant to. |
So today I started my painting projects. I completed 1 order (bar a last couple of bits when some more paint arrives) and spent all evening on another order (erm and all of Sunday; still not happy with the design though, but I'll get there!).

Not so bad today :) |
Tonight we started to try and change Mia's sleeping habits. She usually stays awake late and goes to bed when we do. We have decided to change this. So, on the advice of Liz Pantley (her book's coming on Monday so I can have a proper read), when she started looking droopy draws at about 6 we put her to bed. She was asleep properly by 18:40. She woke every 2 hours to feed, as she does (which I'm fine with!) but when she woke at about 22:00 she was WIDE AWAKE! And Johny and I spent the best part of an hour lying either side of her pretending to be asleep whilst she chatted like a loon and tired herself out! We'll see how the next few nights go!
Sunday 27th Jan
Apart from spending oodles of time designing designs for Aelfen, I shopped. Johny and I popped to the Range for some essentials and ended up bringing back an impressively green, impressively crazy rug. Because my darling husband just had to have it! It's now frequenting our kitchen, which I re-arranged today whilst Johny and Mia were out visiting a friend at the pub for his birthday.
My Dad has come over this evening so we can spend the day together with little Mia tomorrow. The plan is to go and see Mum for lunch in Winchester which I'm sure will be a delight :) Looking forward! xx
(PS Day 2 of sleep habits and their adjustment... pretty much the same as last night)
